A DWI charge can result in penalties that include fines, potential jail time, and the loss of your driver’s license. A drunk driving conviction can also threaten your job in some professions, such as law enforcement.
New York City has recently experienced a series of drunk driving arrests involving three police officers, the most recent being a 30-year-old officer who was arrested on Nov. 16 at about 2:20 a.m., court records show. The officer was pulled over and charged with resisting arrest, refusal to take a breath test and driving while intoxicated, according to police records.
Two other officers were arrested for drunk driving in Queens. One took place the morning of Nov. 17. This officer previously had his foot run over in August while he was outside the Mercury Hotel. The officer had just issued a parking ticket when the driver attempted to run him over, according to police records.
The other was a 29-year-old officer was arrested on Nov. 12 at approximately 3 a.m. while he was off duty. He was charged with refusing to take a Breathalyzer test and for driving while intoxicated.
